We are independent. Brooklyn, NY, since 2007.
Fool's Gold Records
Kid Cudi's first single. Danny Brown's XXX. Run The Jewels' debut. We put all three out. A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs started us in 2007, and we are still putting records out.
Who we are
RAP ON ONE SIDE.CLUB ON THE OTHER.
Two DJs started us in Brooklyn in 2007: A-Trak, the 1997 DMC world champion at fifteen who spent the mid-2000s as Kanye West's tour DJ, and Nick Catchdubs. The plan fit on a center label: put out the records we would actually play, whichever side of rap or club music they landed on.
The record backs us. Kid Cudi's first single came out on our label and went to No. 3 on the Hot 100. Danny Brown's XXX and Run The Jewels' debut were free downloads from us before they were canon. And we never stopped. We are still putting records out in 2026, distributed through Virgin Music Group.

Our records
We are 170 plus artists deep, from Day 'n' Nite in 2008 to The Cool Kids' Hi Top Fade in 2025, pressed on gold-and-black vinyl and Record Store Day exclusives.

Our parties
Our Day Off started as a free Labor Day party in a 2010 parking lot and grew into a multi-city franchise. Our A-Trak & Friends parties carry the torch now.

Our radio
We ran Fool's Gold Radio as our own label mix series through the SoundCloud era, then a Beats 1 show, and it lives on as our Apple Music DJ-mix curator page.

Alain Macklovitch. 1997 DMC world champion at fifteen, the youngest ever. Kanye West's tour DJ from 2004, scratches on Late Registration and Graduation. Half of Duck Sauce, whose Barbra Streisand hit No. 1 on the US Dance chart and earned a 2012 Grammy nomination.

Our co-founder
Nick Barat. The other half of our masthead since 2007: DJ, producer, and our co-curator from the first Fool's Gold Radio mixes to the releases still rolling out today. He is on our roster himself, alongside the artists he signed.
